About The Area

North Norfolk is renowned for its spectacular coastline, fantastic wildlife, miles of glorious beaches, seaside communities and a beautiful hinterland of rolling countryside and picturesque market towns and villages.

Restaurants and Tea Rooms

North Norfolk is renowned for its great local produce, which can be enjoyed at the many pubs, restaurants and cafes. Head to the farmers’ markets and local shops to try a variety of food and drink unique to the area including fresh seafood and locally produced beer.

The North Norfolk Coast has enough gastropubs to keep you in dining delight for weeks, most are also dog-friendly, but make sure to book first to avoid disappointment.

With pubs, restaurants and cafes in abundance wherever you go you can't miss popping in to a local tearoom. A particular favourite is The Owl Tearooms in Holt. With a quaint, picturesque outdoor courtyard it's the perfect place to enjoy a scone (or two!).

Beaches

North Norfolk has 45 miles of coast with award-winning beautiful beaches, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Several are Blue Flag beaches and all of them are clean, family-friendly, safe and most of them welcome dogs. North Norfolk has a unique coastline of unspoilt, award-winning beaches including Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Brancaster.

From sand dunes to salt marshes there's a beach for everyone to enjoy.

National Trust Sites and Stately Homes

It's also where you can find stately homes, ancient woodland, coastal walks and magnificent gardens thanks to the National Trust. Kids can immerse themselves in history with a visit to one of the National Trust properties, before seeing what wildlife they can discover in the surrounding gardens and woodland.

Norfolk's history of wealthy landowners means a legacy of magnificent stately homes that are open to the public. North Norfolk's very own Downton Abbeys include Sandringham, the Royal family’s country retreat, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, the home of Britain’s first Prime Minister, and the National Trust owned Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Oxburgh Hall.

North Norfolk is home to much of The Broads National Park, Britain's largest protected wetland, salt marshes, as well as several nature reserves of international importance, making north Norfolk a haven for wildlife and birds, and great for walking.

Walks

There is an abundance of walks to enjoy in and around Holt. A very popular one is Sheringham Park, especially in the months of June/July where the area is blossoming with Rhododendrons (see picture).
